Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Police report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered many other marked cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say early analysis suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
An important official commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
